ADHD ASSESSMENT SUPPORT
OVERVIEW
Difficulty with focus, restlessness, impulsivity, procrastination, disorganization, and follow through can affect work, school, relationships, and daily life.
For some people, these patterns have been present since childhood. For others, they become more noticeable in adulthood, during periods of increased responsibility, stress, parenting, career demands, or major life changes.
ADHD can be one possible explanation, but it is not the only one. Similar symptoms can also be related to sleep problems, anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, substance use, learning differences, medical conditions, or other mental health concerns.
This is why assessment matters.
Kanata Health provides ADHD assessment support using clinical evaluation and, when appropriate, an objective online test. Assessment support means physician guided evaluation, not a standalone diagnosis service. The goal is to help you understand whether ADHD may be contributing to what you are experiencing and to determine appropriate next steps.
The online test measures attention, impulsivity, and activity patterns. It provides objective data to confirm or rule out the diagnosis of ADHD
For Canadians looking for a more structured way to understand attention and focus concerns, Kanata Health offers a virtual, physician-guided path to assessment support.
Traditional ADHD assessment often relies on clinical interviews, symptom questionnaires, personal history, and sometimes input from family members, teachers, or other observers.
These are important parts of evaluation, but they can be subjective. Two people with similar symptoms may describe them differently, and focus, restlessness, or impulsivity can be difficult to measure through conversation alone.
Objective ADHD testing adds another layer of information.
This type of tool uses a structured computer based task to measure patterns related to attention, impulse control, and activity.
It provides additional data that can help clarify what is happening.
WHO IT MAY BE FOR
Who Should Consider
ADHD Assessment Support
You have ongoing difficulty with focus, attention, or follow through.
You struggle with organization, time management, procrastination, or task completion.
You feel restless, impulsive, or unable to slow down.
You have wondered whether ADHD may be affecting your work, studies, relationships, or daily functioning.
You have faced long waits or unclear next steps.
You are looking for objective information to support a more complete clinical picture.
Not sure if this applies to you?
ADHD assessment pathways in Canada can involve extended wait times and limited access to objective testing tools, particularly for adults.
In some cases, patients complete self-assessment tools without having an opportunity to discuss results with a physician in a structured way. Others may have symptoms that are difficult to explain through questionnaires alone.
Kanata Health offers a physician-guided approach that combines clinical review with objective assessment support when appropriate. QbTest, described below, can often be completed remotely from home using a computer and webcam.
Dr. Sanei will confirm whether remote testing is appropriate for your situation during the consultation.
FEATURED TEST
QbCheck
QbCheck is an objective computer based test used to support ADHD assessment.
It measures patterns related to attention, impulsivity, and activity during a structured task. The technology uses webcam based motion tracking and computer based performance measures to provide a visual report for clinical interpretation.
QbCheck measures three core ADHD symptom areas: hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention.
QbCheck is supported by published clinical research and is used internationally to support ADHD assessment and treatment monitoring.
What QbCheck Measures
QbCheck measures three main areas.
What it does
Measures attention, impulsivity, and activity patterns.
Provides objective data to support clinical assessment.
Creates a visual report that can support patient physician discussion.
May help clarify symptoms that overlap with anxiety, mood concerns, sleep issues, or other conditions.
Can support medication response monitoring and treatment tracking in appropriate cases.
What it does not do
It does not diagnose ADHD on its own.
It does not replace a physician assessment.
It does not rule ADHD in or out by itself.
It does not explain every cause of focus, attention, or executive function symptoms.
It does not replace your family doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist, or ongoing care team.
QbCheck is most useful when it is interpreted by a physician in the context of your full clinical picture.
What QbCheck Does and Does Not Do
QbCheck measures three main areas.
Attention
The test evaluates how consistently you respond during the task, including missed responses and changes in attention over time.
Impulsivity
The test measures responses made when you should withhold a response, helping identify patterns related to impulse control.
Activity
The test uses webcam based motion tracking to measure physical activity and movement patterns during the task.
The QbCheck report may include an ADHD total symptom score, activity, impulsivity, and inattention measures, comparison with an age and gender matched reference group, and visual graphs showing how performance changed over time.
