A Physician-Guided Path, Step by Step

STEP 01

Explore Your Options

Before booking anything, take time to understand what is available.

The tests and conditions sections of this website explain what each diagnostic tool does, who it tends to be relevant for, and what the clinical evidence shows. Reading through these pages helps you arrive at your consultation with informed questions rather than starting from scratch. Not sure where to begin? Start with the Tests page or go directly to booking if you already have something specific in mind.

STEP 02

Book a Virtual Consultation

Meet online with Dr. Ali Sanei for a 30-minute consultation from wherever you are in Canada.

Dr. Sanei will review your medical history, family history, current health concerns, and goals. He will answer your questions about specific tests and give you an honest assessment of what, if anything, may be worth pursuing in your situation. There is no obligation to proceed with any testing after this consultation.

STEP 03

Physician Evaluation

Your individual situation is evaluated before any recommendation is made.

During your consultation, Dr. Sanei considers your medical and family history, current health status, and specific goals. If a test is appropriate, he explains what it involves, what it can and cannot tell you, and how access works. If a test is not appropriate, he will tell you clearly and explain why.

STEP 04

Test Arrangement

If testing is recommended and you choose to proceed, Kanata Health coordinates with the appropriate provider.

You will receive clear written instructions covering where to go, what to expect, how to prepare, and how long the appointment will take. The featured tests are performed through U.S.-based laboratories and facilities, are self-pay, and most testing visits can be completed within a single day.

STEP 05

Results and Follow-Up

Once results are available, Dr. Sanei reviews them with you in a follow-up consultation.

He will walk you through what the findings show, what they may and may not mean, and what your options are going forward. If results indicate something that warrants further attention, he will discuss appropriate next steps. These tests provide information to support better decisions. They are designed to complement your existing care, not replace it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know which test I want before booking?

No. Most patients come to their consultation without a specific test in mind. Dr. Sanei will guide the conversation based on your health history and goals. If you do have a specific test in mind, that is a perfectly good starting point too.

How long does the entire process take from consultation to results?

This varies by test. Following your consultation, test scheduling typically takes one to two weeks. Most testing visits are completed in a single day. Results are usually available within one to three weeks after testing, depending on the laboratory. Dr. Sanei will give you a realistic timeline during your consultation.

Can I share my results with my Canadian family doctor?

Yes, and we encourage it. Results from these tests are yours and can be shared with any physician involved in your care. Dr. Sanei can also provide a summary of findings that your family doctor can incorporate into your ongoing care.

What if I have the consultation and decide not to proceed with testing?

That is completely fine. The consultation is designed to help you make an informed decision, not to commit you to anything. Many patients find that the consultation alone answers the questions they came with.

What if my results show something concerning?

Dr. Sanei will review your results with you directly and explain what any concerning finding may mean. He will outline the appropriate next steps, which may include follow-up testing, specialist referral, or discussion with your Canadian family physician. You will not be left to interpret difficult results on your own.
